The Canticle Singers of Baltimore, under the direction of
Wendy Wickham, will be performing at The Cathedral Church of St. Matthew,
3400 Norman Ave., Baltimore, Maryland, on Sunday April 23, 2006, at 4:00
pm.
The concert will feature Antonio Vivaldi's "Beatus Vir". Originally
written for SATB chorus, it has been edited for SSAA with treble soli and
string accompaniment. This program will highlight the vocal talents of
our youth scholarship recipients as well as several talented members of
the choir. Other selections include Mozart's "Kyrie for Five Sopranos,"
Monteverdi's "Canzonnete a tre,ˆÉ¬§ and a set of Central and South American
folk songs. The concert will conclude with two very unique and
contrasting spirituals, and a lush jazz arrangement of "Round Midnight."

at 2:30 pm. The Tour and Concert Choirs will honor area Senior Citizens
with a selection of sacred and secular music from their standard
repertoire, including spirituals and gospel songs. Immediately following
the concert at 3:30pm, a spaghetti dinner will be served. The concert
is
open to the public and tickets for both events will be available
at the
door. Tickets prices are $5.00 – concert only, $8.00 –
dinner only, and
$10.00 – both concert and dinner.
The Maryland State Boychoir
is now in its 19th season. Choristers in the
Maryland State Boychoir come from a wide range of backgrounds,
ethnicities, and races. The Maryland State Boychoir admits boys
without
any regard to race, creed, color, religion, handicap, or ethnic
origin.
Prior musical training is not expected, but an audition is required.
The
Maryland State Boychoir is committed to providing a safe place for
boys to
do something they love: singing.
The Boychoir performs
over 60 times each year throughout Maryland, and on
tours that have taken them throughout Europe, Canada, and the
Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Midwest regions of the United States.
Recently the Tour Choir returned from a very successful tour of
Ireland
and Wales where they performed at St. Patrick’s Cathedral,
St. Fin Barre’s
Cathedral, and Christ Church Cathedral as well as other churches
and
concert halls throughout the countries. The choir has also produced
four
recordings and had their Christmas CD, What Sweeter Music, broadcast
throughout the country on National Family Radio.

United States Naval Academy Chapel, the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and the
